Exotic Bets

The Quinella requires you to pick the top two winners of a race in any order. How you pick the horses that you think will take first and second is your decision, as long as they place in the first two you can collect your winnings.

The Exacta is similar to the Quinella, except the two horses that are chosen must finish in the exact order that they are chosen. If you think horse B will come in first and D will come in second, the only way to collect on the bet is for the final standings to be in that order. If you do win this bet, however, the payout pays for the harder betting.

By adding another horse to your Exacta bet, you have the Trifecta. The first three horses to finish the race must be picked in the exact order that they finish in order for payout to be collected.

Choosing the First Four in exact order is not an easy feat, because once again all four of your horses must finish in the order that you choose them in order to receive a payout.

For those bets that require picking horses in the exact order that they finish the race, there are also box options that allow better odds of winning. This allows you to pick four or more horses and then bets on all of the possible combinations for the first four.

Carnival Combo Bets

Carnival Combo Bets are popular with novice Melbourne Cup betters. It allows you to pick four horses that you think are going to do well and it places bets for you. In exchange for $20 you receive a win and place bet on each horse as well as a boxed trifecta to up the odds of collecting a payout. It makes the betting process a little easier for those that are new to the game.

Multi-race Bets

To simplify your betting, if you are sticking to simple bets, Multi-race Bets allow you to choose a horse in four separate races to place. This gives you a payout if any of the horses that you choose places in the race that they have been chosen in.
